The Forestry Division cares for over eight thousand trees and shrubs located in City parks, five boulevard beautification areas, City facilities and Right of Ways throughout the city.
The City Arborist has established a tree program which involves long-term and short-term goals, techniques to enhance tree survival rates and inventory. The City Arborist also secures grants, works with volunteers, helps design citywide beautification areas, maintains the Tree City USA Program and educates the public.
The Forestry Division also cares for City trees by trimming, planting, fertilizing and moving them. The Forestry Division maintains the City Arboretum at Northwest Park and the tree farm.
They are also responsible for identifying hazardous trees within streets, intersections and alleyways for vehicle clearance and public safety.
