The City Administrator has declared a Level 1 Snow Emergency effective at 12:00 a.m. on February 18th, 2018. Per city code, this means that all vehicles must be removed from the designated Snow Emergency Routes. Vehicles not removed from the Snow Emergency Routes by 4 a.m. on February 18th can be towed at owner’s expense.

Public Works Administration provides leadership and management to the Public Works Department, which consists of three divisions: Parks Division (including Forestry and the City Pool), Streets Division, and Solid Waste Division.

The Public Works Director leads a staff of approximately 41 full-time personnel, plus an average of 40 seasonal staff in the summer. The Public Works Department is responsible for City streets, sidewalks, storm drainage, right-of-way mowing, parks trees, bike and pedestrian pathways, residential trash pickup, recycling, and the City swimming pool.
The Administration Division is responsible for budgeting, policy development, and oversight of the entire department. The division provides reports to City Administration, City Council, and ensures the Council’s directives are carried out while providing the highest level of customer service to the citizens of Gillette. The Administration Division is comprised of a Director, Operations Manager, Senior Administrative Assistant, and two Administrative Assistants, who provide administrative support to the department.
