The primary mission of the Building Inspection Division is to ensure buildings are constructed in compliance with the City's adopted construction codes; building safety is the division's number one concern.

Gillette has a Code Compliance Program that deals with nuisance complaints and issues such as tall weeds and grass. This program operates year-round and has been very successful in keeping with the City’s beautification plan.

The Engineering Division is comprised of the Regulatory Division, Capital Projects Division and Traffic Safety.

Capital Projects Division Provides a broad range of professional civil and municipal engineering services to develop, maintain and improve the City's infrastructure with our Capital Improvement Program. 

Regulatory Division Reviews all subdivision, annexation and development proposals, and commercial building permits within the planning district boundaries and must review, approve and permit the infrastructure improvements within the same.

Performs a variety of activities associated with traffic signs, signals, pavement markings, and traffic studies to improve and help maintain a safe transportation network within the City of Gillette.

The Planning Division administers the Zoning Ordinances and Subdivision Regulations for the City of Gillette. Planning staff reviews and issues permits for current development activities of homeowners and developers.

Road Construction Updates
The City of Gillette's Development Services and Utilities Departments announce the following construction updates for: Gillette Avenue, 4J Road, Carey Avenue, and Richards Avenue.
Gillette Avenue/1st Street Intersection Closed Beginning Wednesday, April 16, 2014
The City of Gillette's Development Services Department announces that the Gillette Avenue/1st Street intersection, and Gillette Avenue north of 1st Street, will be closed from Wednesday, April 16th through May 31st. This closure is for work on the Gillette Avenue Improvements project.
City of Gillette's Yard Waste Curbside Collection Program begins Monday
The City of Gillette's Yard Waste Curbside Collection Program begins Monday, April 14th and will run through Friday, November 14th. The cost of the program is $9.60/month per rollout.
Carey Avenue Street Closure for 2013 Water Main Replacement Project
The City of Gillette's Utilities Department announces the closure of Carey Avenue from 1st Street to 2nd Street, as well as from 2nd Street through the Carey Avenue/3rd Street intersection. This closure is for the 2013 Water Main Replacement Project and is funded by the Optional 1% Sales Tax. The intersection of Carey Avenue and 2nd Street will remain open throughout this project.
Spring Cleanup Information
The City of Gillette's Streets Division will begin its annual spring cleanup program on Monday, April 14th. This is a chance for the public to begin spring cleaning and have the City of Gillette pick up certain types of trash and debris.
