City of Gillette Statement on the Passing of Officer Mike Fischer

Post Date:10/01/2018 2:00 PM

It is with great sadness that the City of Gillette announces the passing of Officer Mike Fischer. He was an officer of the highest esteem. He will be missed by everyone that knew him. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.

Officer Fischer was a 30-year veteran of the Gillette Police Department. For many of those years, he worked patrol. The last three years he was a school resource officer working to help and protect the students in our community. He was the primary radar/lidar instructor for the police department, so every new recruit received training from Officer Fischer at some point in their orientation. Anyone that met him would tell you that he always had a smile on his face.

Funeral arrangements for Officer Fischer have not yet been made.
