Application Process

All applications for employment are accepted for advertised openings only and must be received by the closing date. Unsolicited applications are not accepted.

Applications are not used again for any other position; you must submit a separate application for each opening.

City recruiting practices shall be conducted solely on the basis of ability, merit, qualifications and competence, without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, age or any other characteristic protected by state or local law.

Each applicant shall complete and sign an application form prior to being considered for any position. Resumes may supplement, but not replace, the City’s official application form.

Any employee who has been found to have submitted false or misleading information on their application form or resume is subject to immediate termination.

*Information Technology application includes the required personal history statement that must be hand written.

*This position requires a polygraph examination due to the level of sensitive information that the information technology employees have access to. Please review the Polygraph Advisement [PDF].

Employment Process

Full and Part Time Positions: Approximately 10-14 days after the closing date of the position, interviews will be scheduled. You will be contacted by phone if selected to interview. Applicants not selected for interviews will receive a letter by mail when the position has been filled.

All Positions:

  • The City of Gillette is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer. 
  • Criminal background checks and pre-employment drug screens are conducted on all City positions. 
  •  The City of Gillette has a new hire trial service period of 6 months for regular positions or 1 year for Police Officers.
