2026 Election Information

The 2026 election will make available a Mayoral seat, and three (3) full-term Council seats.

  • Mayor (4-Year Term)
  • City Councilman Ward I (4-Year Term)
  • City Councilman Ward II (4-Year Term)
  • City Councilman Ward III (4-Year Term)

Application packets can be obtained from the City Clerk’s office beginning on May 14, 2026. Applications can be filed with the City Clerk’s office May 14, 2026, through May 29, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. A $25 filing fee is due at the time of application.

Qualifications are as follows:

  • Candidates for Municipal office must be a registered voter and a resident of the municipality and ward which he seeks to represent (W.S. 22-23-301) and will have resided in said ward for at least one (1) year next preceding his election, if so elected.   • Felons with Rights Restored: Pursuant to W.S. 6-10-106, a person convicted of a felony is incompetent to hold any office of honor, unless he or she has had a complete and full Restoration of Voting Rights and Restoration of Rights lost pursuant to W.S. 6-10-106. The candidate must provide their Restoration of Rights Certificate for BOTH.
  • Sex Offenders ineligible to hold specific public offices: Effective July 1, 2026
  1. In addition to any other qualifications to hold public office, no sex offender shall be eligible to be a candidate for, or be appointed to, any of the following offices:
    1. Trustee of a school district
    2. Community college district board member
    3. County attorney or district attorney
    4. County commissioner
    5. Member of the governing body of a city or town
    6. Mayor of a city or town
    7. County sheriff
    8. Any office of an elected statewide official
    9. Member of the legislature
    10. Member of the board of trustees of the University of Wyoming
    11. Clerk of District Court
    12. Member of the state board of education
    13. County Clerk
    14. County treasurer
    15. County coroner
    16. City attorney
  2. The secretary of state, county clerk or other appropriate election official shall refuse to certify a candidate's name if the candidate is ineligible to hold public office under this section. If a person in office is disqualified from office under this section, the office shall be deemed vacant as provided in W.S. 22-18-101 (a) (iv).
  3. As used in this section, "sex offender" means a person who is currently registered on the central registry of offenders under W.S. 7-19-301 through 7-19-310. This act shall apply to any person elected or appointed to public office on or after July 1, 2026.
  • Applicants should ensure that they are not holding an office which may conflict, or be incompatible, with the office for which they are filing; and their employment is compatible with the office they are seeking.
  • Applicants will be required to file a Statement of Contributions and Expenditures report with the County Elections Office, which will be included with their Candidate Application Packet.
